Bye bye 64T and Plus-X, hello 100D!, Entertenment ,

An important dispatch from the Big K...

Today, Kodak is announcing future plans for its Super 8 product portfolio. In this ever changing business, Eastman Kodak remains committed to providing Super 8 camera users with a range of products and creative choices. As such, it is adding a new product to its S8 motion picture film offerings. The new KODAK Ektachrome 100D Color Reversal Film (7285) is a daylight-balanced 100-speed film, incorporating bright saturated colors and fine grain with excellent sharpness.

As part of these future plans, Kodak is announcing the discontinuance of Ektachrome 64T Super 8 Color Reversal Film (7280). This product will phase out over the next couple of months. This follows the previously announced discontinuance of that 64T Color Reversal Film within the professional still portfolio.

In addition, is announcing the discontinuance of Kodak PLUS-X Reversal Film (7265) in the Super 8 format. This product will phase out over the next couple of months. We will maintain Kodak TRI-X Reversal Film (7266). TRI-X Film is a high speed (EI 200) panchromatic film for use in indoor and outdoor applications. It offers excellent tonal gradation and high sharpness.

Kodak will continue to offer two color negative films within the Super 8 portfolio: Kodak VISION3 500T Color Negative Film (7219) and Kodak VISION2 200T Color Negative Film (7217). These films provide exposure flexibility and great image quality for those users who plan on digitizing their images.

Despite the changes to the portfolio, we remain committed to the Super 8 format and to the unique look Kodak film provides. We continue to make investments in this business in order to bring the most creative, flexible imaging tools to our motion picture customers. We are also working hard to focus our resources in the right areas so that we may continue to deliver the best film products and the best value possible to our customers.
